USGS Digital Aerial Type Certification

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) digital aerial sensor type certification team reviews digital camera systems to verify the systems meet the claims of the manufacturer and are capable of providing quality, consistent image data to support civil government mapping and ortho-photography product development.

The certification process includes presenting and providing the appropriate information to address the certification requirements as defined in the USGS Quality Assurance of Digital Aerial Imagery plan and the USGS Sensor Type Certification Procedure.

This certification is valid for any system matching the system type evaluated by the USGS during the site inspection. Any design changes that change the effective output of the system require additional evaluation and re-certification if necessary.
